February 28th.

Two years ago TODAY this happened:

My good friend Kenzie was having a dance party at her house.
Being a good friend and all, I decided to go early and help her set up.
We made some awesome streamer decorations and I mixed together the homemade rootbeer.

Once the party began, I sat on the chair along the wall texting my friend Melissa to see when my friends would be there.
During this time, Kenzie sent me a text that said something like this, "The boy on the couch thinks you're cute. Go talk to him!"
Nervously, I looked over and saw who it was. I remembered briefly meeting him a couple of weeks before at a basketball game. I remembered he had stood out to me, because he was really friendly.

There was no way I was going to go over and talk to him though.
I remember going into Kenzie's bedroom with her while she tried to convince me to go talk to him.

I had heard not too long after the party began that the rootbeer I made, was, well-- completely flat. Not sure what I did wrong, but I think it was a blessing in disguise.

After my friends had arrived, Melis and I decided to go grab and drink (not rootbeer). Luckily, we ran into "that cute boy from the couch" in the kitchen.
Feeling a little more gutsy after my pep talk from Kenz, I asked the boy if he'd tried the rootbeer.
He said something along these lines, "Yeah and it's way bad!"
I replied with, "Oh yeah? Well I made it!"
He then proceeded to say something about being sorry, maybe even hugged me and we all laughed it off.

I left the party that night thinking I'd never see him again... slash nothing would really happen.
Little did I know, that "cute boy on the couch" would change my life.  For-ev-er.

And look at us now.

Getting ready to celebrate our one year anniversary.

Crafting.

One of my favorite things about getting together with my sister is doing crafts!

While out in AR, we decided to use some felt to make a few things.
They are mostly for headbands, but I made one to pin onto cardigans and a couple of pairs of earrings!

Here are a few of our finished products:

I do love to be crafty, unfortunately, I craft best with others!

So anyone want to do monthly craft nights?
Seriously!

I'll host the first one. In March. At mi casa in SJ.
Let me know.
We'll be craft friends.
And make super cute crafts.

Pillow Talk.

Look what I made while in AR! With the help of my sistah-- I know have some adorable new pillows. :)

I've been searching for pillows and just haven't found ones I LOVE. So I figured I'd be domestic and just make some! Plus, it's cheaper-- therefore, I can change them out more often, if so desired. :)

T-Swift.

Listening to my Taylor Swift Pandora station reminds me of something that happened last week.

I had two of my nieces (ages 7 and 5) and my nephew (age 5) in my car driving to their older brother's b-ball game. Being the cool aunt I am, I asked the girl's if they would like to listen to Taylor Swift. There were squeals and quick yeses as I turned on "Love Story". They then proceeded to tell me that their favorite (and I think the only ones they know) Taylor Swift songs are:

Love Story,
White Horse,
&
You Belong With Me

We finished up Love Story and moved onto You Belong With Me, when Josh asked:

"Can we listen to something that is NOT Taylor Swift."

It cracked me up. My nieces loving T-Swift and my nephew, not so much loving T-Swift.

I love those kids.

Cheesy.

This photo makes my heart happy because:

That's my best friend making that adorable face.

It was taken when the weather was warm and our skins were tan.

It was also taken at Tony Grove, during the annual Perkes Family Tony Grove camping trip.

We love camping and being outdoors.

I just found this photo and I'm so happy I did. I think I'll upload it to my smugmug order so I can have it in the flesh.

:)

Hair.

I've been toying with the idea of cutting my hair for a couple of weeks now.

It's been a while since I've done something drastic and I'm really anxious for a change.

Since the color will always been blond, I need to do something different. Hence, the idea to cut it off! I thought it'd be especially good for the Spring/Summer, then I can start growing it out again in the Fall if I want to.

Here's an idea of what I was wanting to do. A long bob, just above my shoulders. Maybe a little A-line?

What do YOU all think? Eh?

AR.

This weekend, I'm with my mom out in Arkansas visiting my sister, her husband their baby boy. We've been having a lot of fun, hanging out, eating good food, shopping, getting pedicures and cuddling this cute boy:

Aren't those little curls over his ears to DIE for? I think so too.

I, of course, miss my husband and wish he was here. But I know he's enjoying playing Donkey Kong and watching the Slam Dunk contest with his brother.

Also, you should all check out my sister's blog for some great design and fashion tips! I've helped her out of with a couple of posts since I've been here, but she is the real expert! Plus there might be a giveaway soon, so you better just follow it while you are at it. :)

Stay tuned for more pictures, obviously, but I just had to post a few to hold you all over. :)

A V-day Report.

We had a pretty great first "married" Valentine's Day. I'd say it suited us perfectly.

I made us a romantic lunch (once again being a cool wife):

Tyson gave me flowers (bright ones, of course, because that's what I prefer over roses):

We went and got sushi and didn't take any pictures of that, but we definitely enjoyed it.

Then we ended the night with this:

(Yes those strawberries are hand-dipped by yours truly)
We EVEN sat on the same couch for the movie. It was romantic.

All in all, we really enjoyed the day and each other and being in love on Love Day.

My kids.

Something I've really been enjoying since the move:

How could you not love a face like that? I love this little girl. As well as her siblings.

It's so fun to live closer to them! I've already been to there house a few times and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Hopefully they aren't sick of me. But I can't stay away from, "Deetee. Deetee. Pay? Pay?" (Translation: Katie, Katie Play? Play?).

Love those kids!

Missin' my Cache Valley kids:

And totally loving being around this kid currently:

Yep-- I'm a lucky ducky aunt.

Birthdays are a big deal in our family.

It is the truth.

So although Tyson wasn't the biggest fan of a day (or weekend) dedicated all to him-- I told him to just enjoy it, because birthdays are a big deal in our family and that's just the way it is. And always will be.

We started out the birthday with a trip last weekend to Cache Valley, celebrating with Tyson's family and some close friends. Saturday night we had a little get together at a church in Smithfield. We had some good food, good company, and good volleyball games. Three things that our birthday boy enjoys!

On his actual birthday (February 7th) it was just the two of us. I made him some lunch and we picnicked in the living room. Then after the BB (birthday boy) got off of work, we went to the Cheesecake Factory for some yummy dinner. After our meal, we went home to open presents and then the BB and I enjoyed some red velvet cheesecake and the Jazz Game.
We ended the festivities this past weekend by going out to Ruby River with family on Saturday and then cake and ice cream at my parent's on Sunday. All in all, it was a great birthday!
And I'm sure Tyson thinks so too. :)

Now, for the photos!
And yes, I made the BB take a lot of solo shots during Birthday celebrations. He toughed it out and pleased me by taking all of them with a smile. Thanks BB. Love you tons.

 Best balloons ever!
BB showing off his button.
 Two cakes=a lucky BB.
This might be blurry, but it was too good not to keep slash post.
That's right-- one breath! No cubs this year... :(
Pin the soccer player on the soccer ball!

The actual day of birth:

I made the BB some lunch.
 I'm such a creative wife.
 The picnic.
 Action shot.
The BB with his birthday loot.
Pretending to blow out the candle, since we had nothing to lite it with. :)

And lastly, the decor:

I love birthdays.
